Entrevue avec Sean “Seang@res” Gares
Cloud 9

Seang@ares: Bien, on savait qu’Inferno serait difficile.

Interview with Sean “Seang@res” Gares
Cloud 9

After losing the finals 1-2 against Na’Vi, being denied overtime on Overpass, Cloud9 was obviously let down by their performance although the crowd seemed to differ as they cheered them up all the way until the end.  Seang@res had lots to say about the event and what they learned from their experience.

Montreal Gaming: How did it go?

Seang@res: The finals or the tournament?

Montreal Gaming: Both.

Seang@res: If you asked me, before the event started, if I would be okay with top two, I would’ve said yes. I would’ve been pleased to get top two at this event and made the finals, again. We’re after the finals obviously and it’s the impression we have.. We all thought that we probably should’ve won that map, the last one. We went out with a really big lead on T side, which is like the way harder side. We crumbled on the next several key rounds; 5v3s and so forth. So I guess… it really sucks, but… yeah… I guess it sucks. Haha.

Montreal Gaming: Regardless, you guys did pretty good. How do you feel about the results that you guys have been getting this past month? How do you feel about the progress that you’ve accomplished with the new team?

Seang@res: Yeah, so… Gfinity didn’t go so swell and it’s partly because I was trying to call in a different way. It was our first, I guess, real LAN since the roster changes. I wanted to call the stuff that I called in north America and to see how it worked, not really look in the other teams much, just kind of use it as a throw away tournament before ESEA LAN because that was a much bigger tournament. So I don’t really count that. And then after that, I think we’ve been playing pretty well. Other than Fnatic and Na’Vi, we seem to have all the answers right now. We’ve been playing well on both sides. Had some struggles on second rounds, after we win pistol. We’ve had struggles on pistols themselves. So maybe, looking forward, we need to fix those problems.

Montreal Gaming: After losing the first map, how did you guys move on to the rest of the match up?

Seang@res: Well, we knew Inferno would be a struggle. We don’t have that good of an Inferno to beat like one of the top 5 teams of the world on it, but we are comfortable on it. We picked it against Team Liquid in a best of 3 because we’re comfortable on it. We’re not comfortable when it comes to Fnatic, Envyus and Na’Vi. Those kind of teams that can play super aggressive in a strategic way. We just weren’t ready for their Inferno. The other maps went well I guess.

Montreal Gaming: What’s your state of mind going forward? What is Cloud 9’s next goal?

Seang@res: Our next tournament would be Valencia, Spain. Basically, finals, which is next week. Tomorrow we’ll be leaving for Spain. The week following that, we have CEVO LAN in Columbus, and then the week following that, we have the major qualifier in Burbank, California. We’re gonna be doing a lot of watching demos in hotel rooms, try to pick some mistakes. I want to deepen our map pool. I want to practice enough so that we can add Mirage.

Montreal Gaming: Regardless of the results today, the fans were extremely proud of you guys. Does that bring you some comfort?

Seang@res: Yeah, it kind of uplifted me a little bit, when we lost and everyone cheered for us when we went to the stage. That was nice and kind of lifted us up a little bit. We were so close you know, to get that first international win for north America. It was in our hands and it kind of just slipped out at the last second. We have alot of stops left still and we have to brush that off.

Montreal Gaming: Well I’m pretty sure that you’ll get at least one first.

Seang@res: Hopefully!
