La grande compétition de Valorant du LAN ETS 2026 était prometteuse, comptant 16 équipes qui s’affrontaient pour une part de la cagnotte de 6 500$. Les gagnants de la dernière édition, LAN ETS 2025 Valorant, The GRID, étaient de retour pour défendre leur titre et inciter la peur chez leurs adversaires venant de partout au Québec et, même, de l’Ontario. Seulement la Grande Finale était un Bo3 en raison de la courte durée du tournoi.

Le Swiss Stage

La compétition a commencé avec un Swiss Stage où les équipes devaient gagner trois parties pour se qualifier pour la prochaine ronde. Dès le départ, les écarts entre les niveaux se font sentir avec deux parties finissant avec un score de 13-0 (Garnis Comme Mac® contre Wolfpack eSports)(ÉTS Esports contre Humus Maximus). Après deux parties, sans surprise, The GRID comptait deux victoires, tout comme les équipes ETS Esports, Minions et XTM uncl.

Portrait ETS Esports

L’équipe de l’ETS Esports, jouant à domicile, se sentait plus confiante que les années précédentes, avec plusieurs additions, entre autres, Ninjago et Xyu, des joueurs de rang Immortel. Le but est clair. L’équipe veut finir plus haut que l’année précédente et sortir en un morceau du Swiss Stage.

Sur la sellette : Horizon B – Val, Humus Maximus, Wolfpack eSports et Cie Cal Valorant avec que des défaites. La troisième ronde est de la plus haute importance pour The GRID et Minions qui courent la chance de se qualifier directement aux play-offs. Cette première équipe reste décontractée face à l’évolution de la compétition. Au contraire, Minions subit beaucoup de stress entre les problèmes de courant et l’ambiance tendue qu’amène un tournoi de cette envergure avec des gens constamment en mouvement et en conversation aux alentours.

Focus sur les joueurs

La rencontre entre les Minions et ETS Esports dans la dernière partie du Swiss Stage est d’autant plus importante dû à l’affrontement de MIN Abricott et ETS Anku. En effet, c’est en tant qu’adversaires que ce couple (Petit ami et petite amie) se retrouve dans cette compétition. C’est finalement l’équipe Minions qui l’emporte haut la main avec un pointage de 13-6. Ceci les qualifie directement pour les play-offs aux côtés de The GRID qui n’ont donné aucune chance à XTM uncl : 13-3.

Cie Cal Valorant, à la suite de plusieurs difficultés autour d’un retard de leur joueur zBagel et des déconnexions, s’incline contre UMoncton E-Sports. De plus, peut-être grâce à leur utilisation de leur 6e joueur, Durham Lords Valorant poursuivent leur lancée vers la qualification avec une victoire très importante.

Après une victoire convaincante de XTM uncl de 13-2 contre UMoncton E-Sports Valorant, XTM uncl se sent au sommet de sa forme pour atteindre la finale du lendemain. Durham Lords Valorant sont dans le même état d’esprit à la suite de leur victoire de 13-6 contre Horizon A. Pour leur part, ETS Esports se qualifie de manière franche avec une victoire de 13-2 contre Something Funny. Enfin, l’équipe est sortie des Swiss Stage et poursuit l’aventure.

Les Play-offs

Pour accéder aux finales et, ultimement, à la Grande Finale, les équipes doivent compter deux victoires ou être forcées de passer par la Lower Bracket. Le désavantage de cette Bracket est qu’elle compte plus de parties, ce qui rend les heures de sommeil très limitées.

Avec plus de la moitié des équipes toujours en liste pour le titre de Champions, l’étape la plus ardue du tournoi s’entame enfin vers 19h30. Dès la première ronde des play-offs, Durham Lords Valorant, Minions, ETS Esports et OP//ZERO atterrissent dans la Lower Bracket. Frôlant l’élimination, ces équipes doivent gagner à tout prix leurs prochaines rencontres. À l’opposé, tout va pour le mieux pour The GRID et Garnis Comme Mac® qui se qualifient sans surprise pour l’Upper Finale dominant , Pandas Solaris et XTM uncl respectivement

Cependant, de nouveaux retards viennent compliquer le processus. Après les nombreux problèmes techniques tout au long de la journée, des accusations de discours antisportifs qui entraîneraient une disqualification immédiate éclatent et causent un arrêt complet. L’équipe, The GRID, se défend, clarifiant que ses adversaires avaient tenu des propos similaires et que ce qui a été dit n’était pas mal intentionné. C’est seulement à la suite de l’analyse des rediffusions de la partie en question que le verdict tombe : aucune équipe ne sera disqualifiée. Toutefois, les directions sont claires : le LAN ETS n’accepte pas de tel comportement. Une note sera inscrite au dossier de l’équipe et il est du devoir de tous les participants d’avoir les Replays activés. Le tournoi reprend ensuite avec encore plus de hargne et d’amertume.

Malgré la fatigue et les délais, les deuxième et troisième tours de la Lower Bracket ont dû se jouer. Avec des parties finissant après minuit, OP//ZERO se qualifie pour la Lower final.

Les finales sont toutes reportées au lendemain matin.

Les finales

Dès l’aube, The GRID et Garnis Comme Mac® s’affrontent dans la Upper final pour se qualifier pour la Grande Finale sur la scène de l’auditorium. Contre toute attente, The GRID s’incline pour la première fois du tournoi à 10-13. Selon l’équipe, ils dormaient toujours et devaient se ressaisir pour la suite. C’est leur première défaite du tournoi, de quoi les réveiller. La partie suivante est importante, car les perdants finiront en troisième place et les gagnants passeront à l’étape ultime. Cet affrontement contre OP//ZERO en Lower final se termine par une marque convaincante de 13-4 pour The GRID. OP//ZERO reste satisfait du résultat touchant une somme de 1 000 $ pour la dernière place du podium.

La Grande Finale

La Grande Finale s’annonce sanglante avec les deux équipes se tenant à 1-1 dans le tournoi. Cependant, la victoire de Garnis Comme Mac® datait du matin même. Battre les champions en titre leur paraissait parfaitement possible. De l’autre côté de la scène, The GRID se sentait confiant après leur faux pas matinal.

Pour la seule Bo3 du tournoi, la tension est apparente. The GRID commence en force avec une victoire de 13-8. Garnis Comme Mac® riposte sur la deuxième carte avec un pointage de 13-7. Castor, joueur étoile de The GRID, souligne que son équipe n’a pas su s’adapter et compte le faire sur la toute dernière carte du tournoi.

Sous les applaudissements de la foule, The GRID prend le contrôle de Breeze pour gagner avec une marque de 13-6 contre son adversaire. Satisfaits de ne pas avoir passé leur fin de semaine au LAN ETS pour rien, c’est avec un sourire sur le visage qu’ils acceptent leur chèque de 3 700$ et conservent leur titre de champions Valorant du LAN ETS pour la 2ème année consécutive.

The major Valorant competition at LAN ETS 2026 was promising, featuring 16 teams battling it out for a share of the $6,500 prize pool. The winners of the previous edition, LAN ETS 2025 Valorant, The GRID, returned to defend their title and strike fear into their opponents coming from all over Quebec and even Ontario. Only the Grand Final was a Bo3 due to the tournament’s short duration.

The Swiss Stage

The competition began with a Swiss Stage where teams had to win three games to qualify for the next round. Right from the start, skill gaps became apparent, with two games ending in a 13-0 score (Garnis Comme Mac® against Wolfpack eSports) (ÉTS Esports against Humus Maximus). After two games, unsurprisingly, The GRID had two wins, as did ETS Esports, Minions, and XTM uncl.

Playing on home turf, the ETS Esports team felt more confident than in previous years, with several new additions, including Ninjago and Xyu, both Immortal-ranked players. The goal was clear. The team wanted to finish higher than the previous year and make it out of the Swiss Stage in one piece.

On the hot seat: Horizon B – Val, Humus Maximus, Wolfpack eSports, and Cie Cal Valorant with only losses. The third round was of the utmost importance for The GRID and Minions, who had the chance to qualify directly for the playoffs. The former remained relaxed about the competition’s progression. Conversely, Minions experienced significant stress between the power outages and the tense atmosphere that a tournament of this scale brings, with people constantly moving and talking nearby.

Focus on the players

The matchup between Minions and ETS Esports in the final game of the Swiss Stage was especially significant due to the clash between MIN Abricott and ETS Anku. Indeed, this couple (Boyfriend and Girlfriend) found themselves as opponents in this competition. Ultimately, the Minions team won handily with a score of 13-6. This qualified them directly for the playoffs alongside The GRID, who gave XTM uncl no chance: 13-3.

Following several difficulties involving a delay from their player zBagel and disconnections, Cie Cal Valorant fell to UMoncton E-Sports. Moreover, perhaps thanks to the use of their 6th player, Durham Lords Valorant continued their push toward qualification with a very important victory.

After a convincing 13-2 victory by XTM uncl against UMoncton E-Sports Valorant, XTM uncl felt at the top of their game heading into the next day’s finals. Durham Lords Valorant was in the same state of mind following their 13-6 victory against Horizon A. For their part, ETS Esports qualified decisively with a 13-2 win over Something Funny. Finally, the team made it out of the Swiss Stage and continued the adventure.

The Playoffs

To reach the finals and, ultimately, the Grand Final, teams needed two wins or were forced to go through the Lower Bracket. The disadvantage of this bracket is that it involves more games, making sleep hours very limited.

With more than half the teams still in contention for the Championship title, the most gruelling stage of the tournament finally kicked off around 7:30 PM. From the first round of the playoffs, Durham Lords Valorant, Minions, ETS Esports, and OP//ZERO landed in the Lower Bracket. Nearing elimination, these teams had to win their next matchups at all costs. On the opposite side, everything was going smoothly for The GRID and Garnis Comme Mac®, who unsurprisingly qualified for the Upper Final by dominating Pandas Solaris and XTM uncl, respectively.

However, new delays complicated the process. After numerous technical issues throughout the day, accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct—which would result in immediate disqualification—erupted and brought everything to a complete halt. The team, The GRID, defended themselves, clarifying that their opponents had made similar remarks and that what was said was not ill-intentioned. Only after analyzing the replays of the match in question was the verdict delivered: no team would be disqualified. However, the directives were clear: LAN ETS does not accept such behaviour. A note would be added to the team’s file, and it is the duty of all participants to have Replays enabled. The tournament then resumed with even more fierceness and bitterness.

Despite the fatigue and delays, the second and third rounds of the Lower Bracket had to be played. With games finishing after midnight, OP//ZERO qualified for the Lower Final.

The finals were all postponed to the following morning.

The Finals

At dawn, The GRID and Garnis Comme Mac® faced off in the Upper Final to qualify for the Grand Final on the auditorium stage. Against all odds, The GRID fell for the first time in the tournament, 10-13. According to the team, they were still asleep and needed to pull themselves together for what came next. It was their first loss of the tournament, enough to wake them up. The next game was crucial, as the losers would finish in third place and the winners would advance to the final stage. This clash against OP//ZERO in the Lower Final ended with a convincing 13-4 mark for The GRID. OP//ZERO remained satisfied with the result, taking home $1,000 for the final spot on the podium.

The Grand Final

The Grand Final promised to be a bloodbath, with the two teams standing at 1-1 in the tournament. However, Garnis Comme Mac®’s victory was from that very morning. Beating the defending champions seemed entirely possible to them. On the other side of the stage, The GRID felt confident after their early morning misstep.

For the only Bo3 of the tournament, the tension was palpable. The GRID started strong with a 13-8 victory. Garnis Comme Mac® fired back on the second map with a score of 13-7. Castor, The GRID’s star player, noted that his team failed to adapt and intended to do so on the tournament’s final map.

To the applause of the crowd, The GRID took control of Breeze to win with a 13-6 mark against their opponent. Satisfied that they hadn’t spent their weekend at LAN ETS for nothing, they accepted their $3,700 check with smiles on their faces and retained their title as LAN ETS Valorant champions for the 2nd consecutive year.
